BOARD MEMBER: Board members are elected each January. Positions include President, President-Elect, Secretary, Treasurer, and Chairpersons for Fund Raising, Membership, Publicity/PR, and Long-Term Planning. The Board meets once a month. OTHER OFFICERS: These officers attend Board meetings in an advisory, non-voting capacity: Historian, Parliamentarian, Corresponding Secretary, and Executive Director. SERVE ON A COMMITTEE: - PUBLICITY/PR: Volunteers may work to get news releases published or on the air. Those who enjoy speaking in public may address various civic, fraternal or church groups in the area, about our goals and accomplishments, or visit local schools with our message concerning pet care and the need for spay/neuter. We also submit a picture and short blurb for a "Pet of the Week" in the local paper.
- FUNDRAISING: Volunteers are always needed to submit new ideas and to help carry them out.
- LONG-TERM PLANNING: The main duty of this committee at present is to secure grant moneys to run the shelter, the feral cat program, and for future growth. This is a vital job!
- FINANCE: Work with the treasurer to set an annual budget and to track donations and gifts.
- DONATION CANS: Volunteers are needed to pick up donation cans around the lake and in New Braunfels. Pick-up is usually done once a month.
- NEWSLETTER: Those who enjoy writing may wish to contribute articles to the quarterly newsletter. Volunteers are also needed to take the completed newsletter to the printer, to put on mailing labels and prepare for the post office's bulk mailing, and to bring the newsletters to the post office.
